The main goals of the New Castle History and Archaeology Program are to:

Serve New Castle Residents

Prepare a guide for residents regarding archaeological heritage
 Identify library resources
 Initiate community resources inventory: sites and artifact collections
 Research community history: individual property studies
 Manage information: create an archaeological GIS

Preserve

Manage threatened sites
Open space initiatives
Work with developers
Work with city government, public organizations, and other agencies

Educate

Plan exhibits
 Offer programs and community workshops
Sponsor lectures and trips

Communicate

Create network to promote community-professional joint venture
Get the word out and share information and ideas
Coordinate with other city and community initiatives
